Temple Covenants Save Families

"The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally."
-The Family; A Proclamation to the World

Having a family is hard and it definitely doesn't come with a rule book or a "How to" guide. Parents try their best to teach the kids what they know about the gospel and living a pure and righteous life. We all know that life doesn't always go as planned and there are trials out there that everyone has to go through. We can plan to have the perfect family of six kids that are happy and strictly obedient and they never fight or argue. The kids eat all their dinner and go to bed on time and wake up around 8 am. They love going to church and have a strong testimony. They do well in school and have awesome friends who never teach them bad things. Then they grow up and go to college and stay active in the church and are always happy and healthy. The list can go on. We have all dreamed of this life. Reality isn't as pretty as our dreams, sadly, but through the temple, our families can be together forever in the millennium where the world really will be perfect and we will be able to live in happiness forever.

"The Shepherd will find his sheep.
They were his before they were yours—long before he entrusted them
to your care; and you cannot begin to love them as he loves them.
They have but strayed in ignorance
from the Path of Right, and God is merciful to ignorance.
Only the fullness of knowl- edge brings the fullness of
accountability. Our Heavenly Father is far more merciful,
infinitely more charitable, than even the best of his servants, and the Everlasting
Gospel is mightier in power to save than our narrow
finite minds can comprehend"
-Orsen F. Whitney

The Lord gave everyone agency so that they can choose for themselves to follow him and Heavenly Father and return back to live with them. We knew there would be temptations on this earth and we knew that some would stray from the path. Through the covenants made in the temple during a temple sealing, families can be reunited in Heaven after we die. Although some may stray off the path here on Earth, there is always a chance for them to accept the gospel in Heaven and follow Christ. No matter what choices a child makes, he or she will always be sealed to their parents and have the opportunity to be with their family in the eternities.

"The eternal sealings of faithful
 parents and the divine promises made
 to them for valiant service in the Cause of Truth,
would save not only themselves, but likewise their posterity.
Though some of the sheep may wander, the eye of the Shepherd
 is upon them, and sooner or later they
will feel the tentacles of Divine Providence reaching out after them and drawing
them back to the fold. Either in this life or the life to
come, they will return. They will have to pay their debt to justice;
 they will suffer for their sins; and may tread a thorny path;
but if it leads them at last, like the penitent Prodigal, to a loving and
forgiving father’s heart and home, the painful
experience will not have been in vain. Pray for your
careless and disobedient children; hold on to them with your faith.
Hope on, trust on, till you see the salvation of God"
